2012 Shows

2012 Lunar New Year Celebration
Welcome in the Year of the Water Dragon

The element is Water...smooth and flowing like glass...reflecting the light of the atmosphere around it.  The animal is the regal Dragon....powerful and ambivalent...greatly admired by those around him or her.  The challenge is to reflect these attributes into your artwork.

Show Dates: 

January 21, 2012 to March 3, 2012

Entry Fee: 

$12.00 per Artist with up to 3 Artworks submitted.  Fees are non-refundable.  Children under 10 years old may enter 1 artwork piece for free if their parent is entering the show as well.  Children entering without a parent must pay a $5.00 entry fee for up to 2 Artworks submitted.

Prize:

First place winner will receive a two week show reservation into MyLan’s Gifts Gallery (Gallery Consignment agreement will apply).  This is also the only show where we award special Additional prizes as part of our custom for the Lunar New Year!  Child entries will not be judged and will not receive prizes.

Drop Off Deadline: 

January 6, 2012 to January 14, 2012, 6:00pm. Artworks not accepted will be notified by email and will need to be picked up by January 18, 2012, 6:00pm.  

Medium Types:

All mediums accepted, size is restricted to 72" any direction. 2-d work must be properly framed and wired – no sawtooth hangers. Sculpture must be able to be handled by one person. All work must be original!

2012 Tell Me a Bedtime Story
In a Painting or Sculpture

Did you know that many of the classical fairy tales were a bit too risqué or politically incorrect in their original form; and were not suitable as stories to be told to children?  Over time, these tales have transformed to accommodate the daintier listeners - but what we are looking for goes back into time to the original stories of lore.  The challenge for the adult entries are to paint or sculpt a classical fairy tale as it was originally represented centuries ago.  Need help in finding a topic for inspiration?  Click here for a list of classical stories to help you on your journey.  For our children artists, let's keep it clean and cute for your entries.  Children may enter artwork for free if their parent is also entering artwork into the show.

June 11, 2012 to July 28, 2012

2012 Share Your Peace and Tranquility

In the midst of the holiday madness, art can instill a moment's peace into the very soul of the on-looking admirer.  The challenge here is to bring your version of peace and tranquility into the heart of your viewers.  Come help spread the real joy of the holidays by sharing your gift to every one and any one that needs a loving moment.

November 7, 2012 to December 31, 2012
